Starna® - Semi-Micro Cells
Semi-Micro CellsStarna Type 9 Semi-Micro cells are for use in situations where the amount of sample volume is limited. The volume of a Semi-Micro cell is approximately 40% of an equivalent path length Standard Rectangular cell. The exterior dimensions allow them to be used with virtually every spectrophotometer or photometer instrument.

All Type 9 cells have an exterior height of 45mm, two clear windows and an open top. The walls and base of the cell are polished on the inside and grey on the outside and are made from clear transparent material. Window thickness is 1.25mm. PTFE lids are supplied with all path lengths with the exception of the 100mm which has a glass lid.

Starna Semi-Micro cells are also available with black or opaque walls for better attenuation and greater sensitivity and are listed as Semi-Micro Self Masking.

To further reduce the volume while retaining the internal width of 4mm cells with thick bases can be used, normally 9mm although 12mm thick bases can also be supplied. The most often requested path length with a thick base is 10mm as shown in the listing, however a thick base can be applied to any Type 9 cell. Please note that cells with a thick base will not suit instruments which have an 8.5mm 'Z' Dimension.
